Israt Jahan is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Her research focuses on Development Economics, Political Economy, and Institutional Quality, with notable work examining corruption, constitutional design, and informal employment. She holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Texas Tech University (2022), and advanced degrees from the University of Turin and the University of Dhaka.
Her teaching includes courses on Microeconomics, International Economics, and Data Analysis using RStudio and Tableau. Recent publications explore the interplay between constitutional length and corruption, institutional quality in Brazil's municipalities, and gender's role in environmental policy outcomes.
Her co-authored work on environmental policy and gender was highlighted in Economics of Governance (2024). Beyond research, she actively engages in academic service and maintains a robust teaching portfolio.
