Isidro Dubert García is a Professor of Modern History at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), holding the position since 2010. He serves as Director of the Department of Modern History and is affiliated with the Interuniversity Research Center for Atlantic Cultural Landscapes (CISPAC). His academic career includes visiting professorships at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris, 2014–2015) and research stays at institutions like the University of Cambridge and Sorbonne-Paris IV. He is editor of Annales de Démographie Historique and founder/director of Obradoiro de Historia Moderna.
Education: PhD in History from USC (1990) with a thesis on family structures in Galicia under the Old Regime. Research focuses on historical demography, rural-urban migration, domestic service, and premodern sociocultural dynamics. His recent interests include urban labor markets and sociodemographic analysis of premarital relationships.
Advising/Grants: Led R+D+i projects like Domestic Service and Labor Markets in Galicia (18th–19th centuries) (2002–2004) and Rural-Urban Mobility and Urban Demographic Structure (2010–2012). Active in international collaborations across Europe.
Labs/Teams: Directs CISPAC and maintains editorial roles in multiple journals. Affiliated with the Center for Studies of Population, Economy, and Society (University of Porto).
