Bruno Esperante Paramos

Bruno Esperante Paramos is an Assistant Professor in Economic History at the Department of Applied Economics, University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). He holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the same institution, with a thesis on the motorization of Galician agriculture (1939-2000), supervised by Dr. Daniel Lanero Táboas and Dr. Lourenzo Fernández Prieto.

His research focuses on rural and agrarian history, cultural studies, and social memory, with a particular emphasis on Galician agricultural modernization, technological adoption, and peasant communities. He is affiliated with the Interuniversity Research Center for Atlantic Cultural Landscapes (CISPAC) and the HISTAGRA research group, studying agrarian and political history of the rural world in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Key research themes include the diffusion of agricultural technologies (tractors, hybrid crops), the socio-political dynamics of Spanish agriculture during the Franco regime and post-war period, and the cultural preservation of rural heritage. His work bridges economic history with cultural and environmental perspectives, examining how technological, political, and social factors shape rural economies and identities.

He has published extensively in journals such as Historia Agraria, Rural History, and Revista de Historia Industrial, and co-authored chapters in edited volumes on European agrarian transformation.
