Ishani Chokshi is a Renberg Fellow at the Williams Institute, UCLA School of Law, and a Master's Student at the California Institute of the Arts. As an artist and lawyer, he wages art upon Law through a womanist and androgynous artistic practice focused on unifying Western and non-Western legal philosophies. He founded the Northwestern Law Journal des Refusés to challenge conventional legal scholarship.
His educational background includes:
- J.D. from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law
- B.A. in Visual Arts from Brown University
Chokshi's research spans critical social justice domains including Criminalization, Data Collection, Discrimination & Violence, Health & HIV/AIDS, and issues affecting Older Adults, People of Color, Same-Sex Couples, Transgender People, and Youth. His policy expertise covers both Federal and State levels with emphasis on intersectional impacts.
Prior professional experience includes non-partisan voter registration campaigns in Jacksonville, Florida; immigration case work at a Sioux Falls clinic; and criminal justice assistance in Chicago, demonstrating hands-on engagement with marginalized communities.
