Isha Bali is a Lecturer in Social Work at Deakin University's School of Health and Social Development (Faculty of Health) and serves as a Marking Tutor since April 2024. She is a qualified Social Worker actively pursuing her PhD in Mental Health at Deakin University with expected completion in 2026.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Social Work with Second Class Honours, Division A from Deakin University (2018-2020)
- Doctor of Philosophy in Mental Health from Deakin University (2023-2026, expected)
Ms Bali's research centers on mental health stigma within Indian Australian communities through feminist and trauma-informed frameworks. Her work spans culturally and linguistically diverse health promotion, family violence interventions, community engagement, advocacy, gender equality, and child/adolescent well-being. She employs qualitative methods including thematic analysis and meaning-making to explore intersectional barriers to optimal living.
As a dedicated practitioner, she advocates for mental health education using cultural humility, ethical listening, and person-centered approaches to support individual rights and wellbeing. Her Hindi language proficiency enhances engagement with South Asian communities.
