Dr. Priya Vaughan is a Research Fellow at the Central Clinical School, University of Sydney, and an Adjunct Lecturer in Psychiatry and Mental Health at UNSW. Her work focuses on qualitative, arts-based, and participatory research methods to address mental health and social inequities. She collaborates with diverse communities to explore mental health challenges, stigma, climate change impacts, and intervention outcomes.
Her research emphasizes participatory co-design, creative knowledge translation, and culturally safe methodologies. Notable projects include the Women and Stigma initiative and collaborations on climate distress through art installations. She co-founded the Ecological Emotions Research Lab’s Community of Practice.
Priya has curated exhibitions such as Stony Ground/Pocketful of Hope and Care is a Relationship, translating research into public dialogues. Her publications span mental health, Indigenous methodologies, and arts-based interventions, with recent work addressing LGBTQ+ mental health services and pandemic mental health impacts.
Her academic affiliations include roles at the Black Dog Institute and collaborations with institutions like UNSW and Deakin University.
