Isak Hammar is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology, Lund University. His research focuses on classical reception studies, the history of knowledge, scholarly personae, and the history of humanities. Funded by the Swedish Research Council (2022–2026), his project investigates how scholarly journals shaped the specialization, professionalization, and internationalization of the humanities in Sweden between 1850 and 1920.
Hammar works as a publications coordinator for the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology, specializing in monograph publishing, open access, and research data management. He co-edits the History of Humanities forum section with Hampus Östh Gustafsson and participates in networks like the Nordic Network for History of Knowledge and LUCK (Lund Centre for the History of Knowledge).
