Isaiah Feken

Dr. Isaiah Feken is an Assistant Professor at the School of Music within the David Orr Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts at Western Carolina University. He holds a DMA from the University of Georgia and has extensive performance experience with organizations like Central City Opera and Opera Colorado. His research focuses on vocal subcategorization and psychosomatic vocal production models.

Research Interests: Dr. Feken explores the Fach system in vocal categorization and develops interdisciplinary models linking psychological and physical aspects of vocal production. His work bridges traditional vocal pedagogy with modern scientific methodologies.

Performance & Teaching: Previously served as Teaching Associate of Voice at Drake University and Artistic Director of Drake Opera Theatre. Notable performances include roles with Des Moines Metropolitan Opera and Pittsburgh Festival Opera.
