Isaac Vaghefi is an Assistant Professor at the Paul H. Chook Department of Information Systems and Statistics within the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, City University of New York. His research focuses on the dark side of technology use, social media behavior, and healthcare information systems.
- Education: PhD in Information Systems (2016) from McGill University; MSc in Information Technology Management (2008) from the University of Tehran; BSc in Industrial Engineering (2006) from Iran University of Science & Technology.
Dr. Vaghefi's research investigates IT addiction, digital detox, and the psychological and organizational impacts of technology overuse. His work bridges behavioral science and information systems, examining how individuals and organizations manage technology-related challenges.
His recent publications analyze social media discontinuance theories, IT addiction coping mechanisms, and mobile health app engagement trends. He has secured grants from PSC-CUNY and the Russell Sage Foundation for studies on IT abstinence and workforce disparities.
- Scientific Awards: AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction Best Paper (2022); Best Paper Runner-Up, HICSS (2017); Canadian Institutes of Health Research PhD Fellowship (2014); multiple Kenan Fund Awards (2019-2021).
