معرفی
Isaac Fianu is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), joining in November 2024. He earned his B.Sc. from the University of Ghana in 2012 and his M.Sc./Ph.D. from the University of Göttingen, Germany, in 2020. From 2020–2024, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Science. His work focuses on gene regulation and genome stability, particularly the molecular mechanisms of RNA Polymerase II (Pol II) transcription control and its coordination with DNA replication and repair.
- Education: B.Sc. (University of Ghana, 2012), M.Sc./Ph.D. (University of Göttingen, 2020)
- Experience: Postdoc (Max Planck Institute, 2020–2024)
- Research Interests: Integrator complex, Pol II termination, transcription-replication conflicts, structural biology techniques
The Fianu Lab employs biochemistry, structural biology (notably cryo-electron microscopy), and advanced methodologies to investigate transcriptional processes in health and disease. Recent publications highlight structural insights into Pol II termination and transcription-coupled repair. The lab seeks team members at all levels to advance research on gene activity coordination.
