Irmgard Männlein-Robert is a Full Professor of Greek Philology at the University of Tübingen’s Faculty of Humanities. Her academic career spans significant roles, including Vice-President of the International Plato Society (2025), Elected Member of the University Council at Tübingen (2024), and contributions to major research projects like CRC 1391 and CRC 1070.

- Co-founder of the Tübinger Platon-Tage (since 2008), focusing on Plato’s dialogues and their reception.
Her research explores Platonism in Late Antiquity, Hellenistic poetry, and the interaction between visual and textual media. She examines themes like the soul’s journey and philosophical allegories in Plato’s works.
Her recent publications analyze the symbolic role of myth in antiquity, such as Prometheus as a reflection on ethics, and the poetics of ambiguity in Lucian’s texts. She also investigates resource cultures and knowledge transfer in ancient societies.
