Irish Horsey is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of Construction Management at Kennesaw State University (KSU) and Director of Industry Advancement at Procore.org. She holds a Ph.D. in Building Construction from Georgia Institute of Technology (2021) and has over 20 years of combined industry and academic experience in the AEC sector.
Education: Ph.D. in Building Construction from Georgia Tech (2021); prior roles include Assistant Professor and Interim Department Chair at KSU (2017-2022), and Program Director for Commercial Construction Management at Gwinnett Technical College (ranked top 10 nationally under her leadership).
Research interests focus on advancing construction education, promoting diversity in the industry, and leveraging technology for industry transformation. She founded the Kennesaw Women in Construction (KWIC) organization to support underrepresented groups in construction.
Awards: Distinguished as the first African American woman with a Building Construction Ph.D. from Georgia Tech and recognized among Georgia's 50 Most Notable Women in Engineering.
Advising & Leadership: Serves on industry advisory boards for high school construction academies and Tuskegee University's R. Taylor School of Architecture & Construction Science. Previously led program development at Gwinnett Technical College and KSU.
Labs/Teams: Active in KWIC mentorship initiatives and Procore.org's social impact programs focused on education and workforce development in construction.
