Iris Reinders is a PhD candidate at the Molengraaff Institute for Private Law, Utrecht University School of Law, conducting research at the Utrecht Centre for European Research into Family Law (UCERF) since May 2022. Her work focuses on family law, particularly on custody disputes following divorce and the application of human rights standards in family law matters.

Reinders' doctoral research examines the resolution of joint custody disputes between parents after divorce, analyzing whether Dutch law aligns with international human rights standards, particularly the International Convention on the Rights of the Child and the European Convention on Human Rights. Her publications and conference presentations demonstrate consistent focus on children's rights within family law contexts, with particular attention to custody disputes, relocation cases, and the best interests principle.
Her notable contributions include:

Prior to her PhD candidacy, Reinders worked as a lecturer at the Molengraaff Institute for Private Law, where she coordinated the course 'Relationship Property Law.' She also gained practical experience at the Central Netherlands District Court in the Family Law department. She holds both bachelor's (honors) and master's degrees from Utrecht University and maintains a position as a group lesson instructor (including Pilates) at the WorkOut gym in Utrecht.
