Dr. Irfan Aydın is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Adıyaman University Faculty of Medicine, where he has been serving since 2015. Previously, he completed his medical education at Erciyes University (1992-1999) and specialist training in Emergency Medicine at Yüzüncü Yıl University (2006-2011). Before his academic career, he worked as a physician at various health centers and Adıyaman State Hospital.
His research interests focus on emergency medicine with particular emphasis on clinical toxicology (especially poisoning cases), cardiovascular emergencies, trauma management, and stroke diagnosis. Dr. Aydın has published extensively on biomarkers for condition severity assessment, emergency department protocols, and patient outcomes in acute conditions. His work frequently examines regional patterns of poisoning cases in Eastern Turkey.
Dr. Aydın has contributed to over 40 peer-reviewed publications and served as co-editor for the 'Life-Threatening Patient Management Handbook' (2020). His recent research has increasingly focused on laboratory biomarkers for assessing severity in envenomation cases and cardiovascular emergencies. He is an active member of both the Emergency Medicine Specialists Association and Turkish Emergency Medicine Association, regularly participating in national emergency medicine congresses.
His professional activities demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing emergency medicine practice through research, education, and clinical service, with particular attention to regional emergency medicine challenges in Eastern Turkey.
