Prof. Irene van Langen is a Professor in Clinical Genetics at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Medical Sciences, leading the Clinical Genetics section at the UMCG. Her research focuses on Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues (ELSI) in clinical genetics and genetic screening, particularly in the context of Next-Generation Sequencing. She holds roles in organizations like the Dutch NIPT Consortium, the Netherlands Association for Community Genetics, and the Health Council's Population Screening Committee.
Her expertise includes innovations in genetic counseling and cardiogenetics. Notable contributions include developing risk-prediction tools for population health and guidelines for managing prenatal test results in maternal malignancy cases.
