Irene Langran is an Associate Dean of General Education and Faculty Development and a Professor of Political Science at Albright College. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, specializing in comparative politics of developing countries, with additional degrees from Villanova University (M.A. and B.A.). Her research focuses on globalization, global health governance, and interdisciplinary approaches to global citizenship. She co-edited Globalization and Global Citizenship: Interdisciplinary Approaches (2016) and has published widely in journals like Global Governance and Journal of Asian and African Studies. Dr. Langran received the 2016 Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching, recognizing her innovative classroom practices and promotion of civil political discourse. She has led program design initiatives, including directing Albright’s General Education and interdisciplinary programs in Public Health and International Relations.
Her research explores global health governance challenges, particularly in organ transplant trade, and the role of technology in global citizenship education. She has held multiple leadership roles, including chairing the Political Science Department and serving on faculty committees focused on pedagogy, assessment, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Dr. Langran’s work bridges academic research with practical experience, informed by her prior work with NGOs in multiple countries.
