Irene Faiman is a Research Fellow in Neuropsychiatry at King’s College London’s Department of Psychological Medicine, School of Academic Psychiatry. Her work focuses on epilepsy and functional/dissociative seizures (FDS), employing EEG and behavioral measures to explore neurophysiological and psychiatric aspects of seizure disorders. She is affiliated with the King’s Epilepsy Research Collective (KERC) and Maudsley Neurotechnology, contributing to interdisciplinary neurotechnology applications.
Dr. Faiman holds a BSc in Psychology (University of Trieste), MRes in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience (Maastricht University), and PhD in Clinical Neuroscience (King’s College London). She previously worked as an Assistant Psychologist in NHS neuropsychology services, specializing in Traumatic Brain Injury and epilepsy patient care.
Her research interests include EEG biomarker development for seizure disorder diagnosis, mood state modeling in epilepsy, and suicidality correlates. Teaching roles include tutoring the MSc in Affective Disorders and co-supervising Clinical Neuropsychiatry dissertations.
Her publications highlight contributions to motor adaptation neuroscience, resting-state EEG applications, and clinical risk factor analysis in neuropsychiatric populations. Current projects emphasize improving diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes through neurotechnology integration.
