Research Interests
Since 2018, Dr Ayallo has concentrated on the well-being of ethnic migrant and culturally diverse communities. Her work interrogates how immigration policy intersects with family violence, how youth negotiate multiple cultural identities, and how participatory action research can foster decolonising, community-led solutions. She is particularly interested in:
- Decolonisation methodologies
- Family violence affecting ethnic migrant women
- Cross-cultural and intersectional practice
- Participatory action research with African diasporas
- Safe cultural spaces for ethnic minority youth
Publication Trends
Her 2012-2025 publication record is anchored in social work, migration studies, and community development. A clear thematic arc emerges: early work explored public-policy dialogue and theological perspectives in Kenya; mid-career outputs shifted to African migrant experiences in Aotearoa New Zealand; and recent studies pivot to applied research on family-violence policy and culturally responsive practice models. Mixed qualitative-quantitative designs and participatory methodologies are hallmarks of her scholarship.
