Io Kefalogianni is a Lecturer in the Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Laboratory of General and Agricultural Microbiology, Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), within the Faculty of Crop Science. She holds a BSc (Distinction) in Crop Science and a PhD in Biotechnology from AUA.
Her research focuses on soil microbiology, biological nitrogen fixation, plant-microbe interactions (particularly plant growth-promoting and phytopathogen-antagonistic microbes), microbial biostimulants, fermentations, composting of agro-industrial by-products, and microalgae cultivation/metabolite production.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Soil Microbiology, General Microbiology, and Microbial Biotechnology (5 credits each, combining theory and laboratory components).
She has participated in nationally/EU-funded research projects and supervised numerous undergraduate theses. She is affiliated with the General and Agricultural Microbiology laboratory team.
