Inès Naji

Inès Naji is an Associate Professor of English and PhD candidate at the University of Rouen Normandy, affiliated with the UFR Letters and Human Sciences. Her research focuses on British literature for young people, particularly representations of pre-adolescents and female characters across 19th-21st century texts. She investigates themes like individuality formation, gender studies, and the socio-cultural construction of young readership. Currently completing her thesis under Prof. Virginie Douglas, her work examines classics like Ballet Shoes and Coraline through a diachronic lens.

Her research highlights 'the in-between' states of pre-adolescents and explores how creative processes (craftsmanship, identity-building) shape girlhood narratives. Recent contributions include analyses of Jacqueline Wilson's Double Act and Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials. She actively participates in international conferences and editorial roles, including moderating the Grow Reading Group for young scholars.
