Inmaculada Torres Castro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Extremadura, Spain. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Granada (2000) under R. Pérez-Ocón. Her research focuses on stochastic modeling in reliability, particularly for systems with competing failure modes, delayed repairs, and degradation processes.
- Current affiliation: University of Extremadura
- Previous research stays: University of Vigo, Stavanger, Troyes, Brussels, Pau, Ewha Womans University
Her work spans reliability engineering, operations research, and signal processing, with applications in condition-based maintenance and safety-constrained systems. She has collaborated with international institutions and contributed to book chapters on maintenance modeling.
Her 15 most recent publications analyze:
- Competing failure modes in repairable systems
- Age-based and condition-based maintenance strategies
- Imperfect/delayed repair modeling
- Stochastic optimization under safety constraints
- Antenna array signal processing reliability
Scientific awards:
- h-index: 8
She has served on editorial boards for The Scientific World Journal and the Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part O: Journal of Risk and Reliability. Her research projects include coordination of multi-institutional efforts on competing failure models and collaboration with companies like Abengoa and Eptisa.
