Inmaculada Sureda García

Inmaculada Sureda García is a full Professor in the Department of Applied Pedagogy and Educational Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology, University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where she has been a faculty member since 2000. She holds a PhD in Psychopedagogy from 1997 and teaches subjects in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, and the Master's in Psychoeducational Research and Intervention. She is co-director of the Master in Emotional Competences and director of the postgraduate course in Teaching and Professional Applications in Emotional Competences at UIB.

Her research focuses on socio-emotional development across childhood and adolescence, particularly in areas such as peer rejection, bullying, emotional competencies, social skills, and self-concept improvement. She investigates student engagement, especially in vulnerable populations and vocational training contexts, and contributes to the development and validation of psychological instruments related to bullying and emotional well-being.

The analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals a consistent focus on developmental and educational psychology, with an emphasis on peer relationships, socio-emotional difficulties, and interventions in educational settings. Her work spans empirical studies, psychometric validations, and intervention strategies, often involving multi-informant assessments (students, peers, teachers). Key themes include bullying victimization, language disorders, vocational education engagement, and strategies for improving classroom climate and emotional competence.

As an academic advisor, she supervises doctoral and master’s theses in the Doctorate in Education program. She has been actively involved in university management, having served as Secretary of the Faculty of Psychology, Vice-Dean of Psychopedagogy, and Vice-Dean of Online Social Education. She leads and collaborates on research projects, contributing to both institutional and international research networks.

Institutionally, she is a member of the I+DEL (Research in Development, Education and Language) research group, the LABVET group, and the Rieeb (International Network of Emotional Education and Well-being). Her work bridges research, teaching, and academic leadership, positioning her as a key figure in emotional education and child development research in Spain.
