Inhyeock 'Ian' Lee is a Professor of International Business and Strategy at Loyola University Chicago's Quinlan School of Business. He holds a PhD from Indiana University (2007) and prior experience as a Deputy Director in South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy. His research focuses on multinational enterprise (MNE) location strategies, entrepreneurial cluster formation, and gender's role in innovation. Recent work explores CSR, regional employment, and crime impacts on SMEs aligning with Loyola's Jesuit mission.
Education highlights include a PhD in International Business from Indiana University (2007), MPA from Seoul National University (1995), and BBA from Seoul National University (1992). His professional journey includes military service (Republic of Korea Air Force) and eight years in public policy roles.
Research interests span MNE regional strategies, international new ventures, and emerging social issues like corporate responsibility. He serves on editorial boards for Journal of International Management, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, and Asian Business & Management. His teaching covers international management, strategic management, and international business strategy at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Publications emphasize FDI impacts on employment, SME location choices, and gender-innovation linkages. Recent work examines cross-border M&A performance and startup relocation dynamics.
