Ingrid Steenhuis is a Full Professor in the Faculty of Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in Prevention and Public Health within the Health Behaviors & Chronic Diseases department. She holds additional roles as Director at Brickhouse Academy, Chair of the Dutch Journal for Lifestyle Medicine (interim), and member of the Scientific Integrity Commission at VU-VUmc. Her academic journey includes a Nursing bachelor, Health Sciences master from Maastricht University (PhD 2002), and prior faculty positions at Maastricht, Open University, and Erasmus University.
Research focuses on lifestyle and behavioral change, obesity prevention, weight management, portion control, and interventions in healthcare settings. Notable contributions include books like Smartsize Me (winner of Gouden Veer) and Ik ga het gewoon doen!. She leads projects such as CLI after Cancer, evaluating combined lifestyle interventions for cancer recovery, and the PEN consortium analyzing food tax policies.
