Ellen Kampman is a Professor/Chair in Nutrition and Disease at Wageningen University (Netherlands), leading research on lifestyle factors in cancer prevention and prognosis. Her work spans observational and intervention studies in both high- and low-/middle-income countries. She has authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers and serves on (inter)national advisory boards, including as senior editor for Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention. Kampman holds research grants totaling ~15 million euros and has supervised over 20 PhD students.
Education: Studied Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University, with postdoctoral training at Harvard School of Public Health and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Current roles include advisory positions for Voeding NU and the Voedingscentrum board of oversight.
Research interests focus on dietary patterns, inflammation biomarkers, and their impacts on colorectal and breast cancer outcomes. Recent studies investigate coffee consumption's role in cancer recurrence, tryptophan metabolites' prognostic value, and post-diagnosis lifestyle changes.
