Ingrid Johnsen Hogstad is an Associate Professor in Health and Social Sciences at Molde University College, affiliated with the Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Care. She holds a PhD in Health and Social Sciences (2021), an MPhil in Psychology (Cultural and Community Psychology, UiO, 2012), and a Bachelor of Philosophy (UiO, 2006–2009). Her primary research focuses on children’s involvement in grief processes, professional practices in welfare contexts, and interprofessional collaboration in schools and healthcare settings.
Her work emphasizes how professionals (e.g., nurses, teachers) support children facing parental illness or death, advocating for inclusive practices in everyday environments. Key projects include leading the Social Educators in Schools (VIS) initiative and contributing to the Nordic Network for Child Life Research. She co-leads the cross-institutional Children, Childhood, and Everyday Life research group at Molde and Volda Universities.
Recent publications (2020–2025) explore child bereavement in palliative care, kindergarten practices, and interdisciplinary collaboration in schools. Notable recognition includes the 2024 Molde University College Communication Award for innovative public outreach. She is also involved in policy debates on school nursing roles and child welfare system improvements.
