Dr. Ingo Tophoven serves as the Chair of the Counseling Ministries Department at Regent University's School of Psychology & Counseling. He is a 2021 Chancellor’s Award recipient, recognized for his academic leadership and commitment to Regent’s mission.
Education:
- M.A. in Counseling (Regent University, 1996)
- Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision (Regent University, 2014)
Research Interests: Tophoven focuses on bridging counseling practices with faith-based ministry, global church leadership, and pastoral care. His work emphasizes equipping leaders to address mental health through a theological lens, particularly in international contexts.

Leadership & Contributions: As department chair, Tophoven has driven a 172% enrollment growth in graduate programs (M.A. in Human Services, M.A. in Pastoral Counseling, Ph.D. in Counseling & Psychological Studies). He advocates for scaling high-quality education while integrating faith into counseling practices.
Global Ministry: Before joining Regent, he served as a bi-vocational missionary in Berlin (2008–2017), directing church-based counseling initiatives and co-hosting a radio show on faith and counseling. He also founded a private practice and pastored churches.
