Ingo K. Mellinghoff, MD, is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. As a physician-scientist, he leads research on molecular signaling in brain tumors, focusing on IDH-mutant gliomas, EGFR pathway regulation, and Bruton Tyrosine Kinase in CNS lymphoma. His work bridges translational research, clinical trials, and metabolic oncology, with significant contributions to liquid biopsy techniques using spinal fluid.
- MD, Technical University Munich
His research explores molecularly targeted therapies for brain tumors, including mutant IDH inhibition, EGFR modulation, and mTOR/EGFR combination strategies. He investigates genetic alterations, epigenetic changes, and tumor-microenvironment interactions in gliomas. Clinical trial leadership includes vorasidenib and ivosidenib for IDH-mutant gliomas.
Recent publications (2023-2007) span Neuro-Oncology, Molecular Pharmacology, and Clinical Trial Design, with emphasis on IDH inhibition, liquid biopsy, and metabolic imaging. Awards include the American Academy of Neurology Neuro-Oncology Scientific Award (2023) and memberships in the Association of American Physicians and American Society of Clinical Investigation.
Dr. Mellinghoff leads the Ingo Mellinghoff Lab, affiliated with the Human Oncology & Pathogenesis Program, Brain Tumor Center, and Gerstner Sloan Kettering Graduate School. His lab studies experimental brain tumor models, patient-derived biospecimens, and phosphoproteomics, with current projects in Glioma, CNS Lymphoma, and Spatial Proteomics.
