Patrick Y. Wen, MD is a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Center for Neuro-Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. His work focuses on novel therapies for brain tumors, particularly gliomas, and improving clinical trial design. He holds leadership roles including former President of the Society for Neuro-Oncology and Editor-In-Chief of Neuro-Oncology. Dr. Wen co-chairs the National Cancer Institute Brain Malignancy Steering Committee and leads major initiatives like the INSIGhT trial and GBM AGILE platform trials.
Education: MD from Medical College of St. Bartholomew's Hospital, University of London (1981). Completed residencies in Internal Medicine (University of London) and Neurology (Harvard-Longwood Program). Board-certified in Neurology (1989) and Neuro-Oncology.
Research emphasizes molecular therapies, immunotherapies, and adaptive trial designs. His team contributed to FDA approvals of bevacizumab, dabrafenib/trametinib, and vorasidenib for brain tumors. Current trials target glioblastoma, IDH-mutated gliomas, and CNS lymphomas.
Awards include recognition as a 2024 most highly cited researcher. Active in global collaborations, he aims to accelerate therapeutic evaluation through innovative trial frameworks.
