Inger Andresen is a Professor in Integrated Energy Design at NTNU’s Department of Architecture and Technology (Faculty of Architecture and Design). She coordinates the EU Green Deal Project 'Climate Positive Circular Communities' (35 partners across 8 countries) and leads the EU ‘Sustainable Plus Energy Neighbourhoods’ (syn.ikia) project’s demonstration work. Her roles include teaching in NTNU’s MSc Program in Sustainable Architecture and leading pilot projects in the Research Centre on Zero Emission Buildings (ZEB) and Zero Emission Neighbourhoods in Smart Cities (FME ZEN).
Education: PhD in Integrated Energy Design (NTNU, 2000); MSc in Building Energy Systems (University of Colorado, 1991).
Research focuses on zero emission buildings, plus energy solutions, and integrating energy efficiency with architectural design. Key areas include low-carbon construction, indoor/outdoor environmental quality, and socio-economic impacts. She pioneered ZEB pilot projects and developed Norway’s BREEAM-NOR standards. Her work spans 30+ years in academia, consulting (SINTEF, Asplan Viak), and industry roles (Skanska, LINK Architects).
Publications (selected): 20+ peer-reviewed articles on energy performance, plus energy neighborhoods, and climate-positive design. Co-authored EU Commission reports on sustainable urban development frameworks and policy recommendations.
