Ingeborg Beckers is a Professor of Medical Physics at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences since 2005, leading the Laboratory for Optics and Laser Technology. Her expertise spans optics, imaging technology, and applying AI to sustainability challenges in healthcare and biodiversity.
- Education: PhD in Semiconductor Physics from Philipps University Marburg. Former researcher at the Helmholtz Center for Materials and Energy.
- Research Interests: Medical imaging (OCT, microscopy), automated image analysis, low-resource medical device development, and AI-driven sustainability solutions like insect classification (KInsekt project).
Key Projects: APPL-FM (DFG), KInsekt (BMUV), remo2hbo (repairable medical devices), Berlin ZOO (biodiversity), and Human.VR.Lab (BMBF).
Doctoral Supervision: Current PhD students include Josef Kauer-Bonin (OCT image quality), Danja Brandt (bone matrix imaging), and Anne Bias (multi-modal imaging for tissue analysis).
