Dr. Inge Birnie is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Strathclyde, where she leads modules on language teaching and early years education. She is a leading researcher in minority language education, with a focus on Scottish Gaelic and plurilingual pedagogy.
Her research spans language revitalization, early language learning, and the use of technology in sustaining minority languages. She has led major projects such as the PALINGUI initiative and the ECML Early Language Learning Expert Group, and contributes to national frameworks like the National Framework for Languages in Scotland.
