Inga Kim Diederich serves as Assistant Professor of History at Colby College, specializing in East Asian history with particular expertise in Korean studies, where her work intersects medicine, race, nationalism, and gender scholarship.
Her academic foundation includes a PhD from the University of California San Diego (2021), an MA from Harvard University (2014), and a BA from the University of Chicago (2009).
Professor Diederich's research investigates how blood functions as both cultural symbol and medical substance in modern Korean ethnonational identity formation, critically analyzing race, gender, class, and postcolonial dynamics across East Asian historical experiences. Her methodology blends archival research with interdisciplinary approaches from medical humanities and critical race theory.
