Dr. Ines Violante is a Visiting Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at the University of Surrey. Her research focuses on brain networks, neuromodulation, and neurodevelopmental disorders. She holds a BSc in Biochemistry and PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Coimbra, followed by postdoctoral research at Imperial College London and University College London supported by a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellowship.
Her research combines fMRI, EEG, and neurostimulation techniques (TMS, tACS, tDCS) to explore brain dynamics and cognitive functions. She investigates how neurostimulation can improve network communication in neurological disorders and studies the neurobiological basis of cognitive deficits in Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Her recent work includes studies on brain wave modulation during REM sleep and the therapeutic potential of non-invasive deep brain stimulation.
Dr. Violante leads the NEMO lab (https://nemo.pages.surrey.ac.uk/lab/), where she explores adaptive Bayesian optimization for brain stimulation. She supervises postgraduate researchers and welcomes inquiries via email. Her publications highlight advancements in neuromodulation technologies and their applications in understanding brain aging and motor learning.
