Indrek Reile is a Senior Research Fellow and member of the Science Council at the National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics in Estonia. With a PhD in organic chemistry and specialization in solution NMR, he has extensive experience from both academic and industrial settings including pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries. His technical expertise spans most common chemical analysis techniques with particular focus on structural elucidation, diffusion NMR, and hyperpolarization.
- Senior Research Fellow at National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics (2018-present)
- Research Fellow at National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics (2012-2018)
- Researcher at Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands (2014-2016)
- PhD in Organic Chemistry from Tallinn University of Technology (2012)
Dr. Reile leads a research group developing applications for parahydrogen hyperpolarization in NMR, which dramatically enhances sensitivity and opens new applications previously impossible with conventional NMR. His work bridges chemistry, physics, and biological applications, with publications spanning metabolomics, marine polysaccharide characterization, and NMR methodology development. Recent research shows particular focus on achieving mid-nanomolar detection limits in biological samples.
His publications demonstrate a consistent output with interdisciplinary impact, appearing in high-impact journals across chemistry, biochemistry, and analytical science fields. The research shows a clear trend toward enhancing NMR capabilities through hyperpolarization techniques for applications in metabolomics, biomedical analysis, and food science.
