Ina Kehrberg-Ostrasz

Ina Kehrberg-Ostrasz holds an Honorary Research Fellow position at the Department of Archaeology, University of Sydney (2004–2027). She previously served as Honorary Lecturer at the School of Archaeology & Anthropology, Australian National University (ANU, 2019–2024) and Visiting Fellow at ANU (2016–2019). She also maintained affiliations with institutions like CBRL-BI (Amman, 1997–2015), the French Archaeological Institute (Athens/EfA, 2001), and others through visiting fellowships.

Her PhD from the University of Sydney (1987) focused on Cypriot archaeology, specifically ceramic typology and chronology in the Early-Middle Cypriot transition. Her research examines Eastern Mediterranean material culture, Jordan’s archaeological contexts, and Roman/Hellenistic urbanization. She critiques traditional pottery typologies and explores socio-economic dynamics through artifact analysis.

Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understanding commerce, urbanization, and cultural absorption in antiquity. She has contributed to projects like the Jerusalem Hippodrome and holds an honorary fellowship at her alma mater.
