Dr. Imelda Drumm is a Lecturer in voice and vocal pedagogy at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), specializing in classical vocal technique for all ages and abilities. She has taught students from early training to doctoral levels, including young professional artists. Her career spans over 30 years with prestigious opera companies such as Glyndebourne Opera and Welsh National Opera, alongside collaborations with leading Irish composers like John Buckley and Seoirse Bodley.
Dr. Drumm’s research focuses on hormonal influences on the elite voice, including the effects of oral contraceptives on vocal performance. She presented papers at the University of Limerick (2019), Doctors in Performance conferences (2018, 2016), and published her doctoral dissertation on hormonal impacts in 2017. She mentors singers through SingersResound UK, addressing age-related and career challenges.
Her performance highlights include roles with Irish National Opera (INO), with upcoming appearances in Rossini’s William Tell (2022/2023) and future INO projects (2023/2024). She holds a DMusPerf from RIAM and trained at the National Opera Studio, London, supported by Glyndebourne Opera’s awards.
