Iman Osman is the Rudolf L. Baer Professor of Dermatology in the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology, and holds concurrent professorships in the Departments of Medicine and Urology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She also serves as Associate Dean for Clinical Research Strategy and Director of the Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group. Her research focuses on melanoma biology, biomarkers, cancer immunology, and machine learning applications in oncology.
Osman earned her MD from Cairo University and the National Cancer Institute. She completed fellowships in Molecular Pathology and Medical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Her work integrates clinical data with multiomics approaches to identify therapeutic targets and develop predictive models for melanoma progression and treatment response.
Her lab’s recent studies highlight advancements in AI-driven pathology assessments, genetic predictors of immunotherapy efficacy, and molecular mechanisms underlying melanoma aggressiveness. Publications emphasize translational research, bridging basic science with clinical applications in oncology.
Key contributions include identifying α-2,3-sialylation as a melanoma maintenance mechanism, developing SYK-related gene signatures for immunotherapy adverse events, and elucidating NF1 mutation-driven EGFR activation pathways. Her interdisciplinary approach combines genetic, epigenetic, and computational methods to address unmet needs in melanoma treatment and patient stratification.
