Ildiko Badea

Dr. Ildiko Badea is a Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. She serves as co-chair of the University of Saskatchewan Biomedical Research Ethics Board and teaches pharmaceutics. Her research focuses on nanoparticle delivery systems, DNA-based biotechnology drugs, and cancer treatment innovations. Her lab is funded by NSERC, the Sylvia Fedoruk Centre for Nuclear Innovation, and the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation.

Her work emphasizes developing targeted therapies for cancers with poor prognoses, such as skin cancers, through nanoparticle-mediated drug delivery. She explores functionalized nanodiamonds, microfluidic systems, and lipid-based carriers for drug and gene delivery applications. Recent studies include cardiac tissue engineering scaffolds, cell migration assays for wound healing, and biodistribution of nanodiamonds.

Dr. Badea's research spans drug delivery mechanisms, biocompatible materials, and translational biomedical approaches. Her lab's funding supports cutting-edge projects in nanomedicine and therapeutic innovation.
