معرفی
Ilaria Ballarini is an Associate Professor in the Department of Energy (DENERG) at Politecnico di Torino, where she conducts research and teaches in the fields of building energy performance modeling, urban energy systems, and climate resilience. She is a member of the TEBE Research Group and actively involved in major research initiatives such as the CRiStAll project under the PNRR Mission 4. Her academic affiliations span multiple colleges, including the College of Architecture and Design, College of Civil and Building Engineering, and College of Electrical and Energy Engineering, reflecting her interdisciplinary impact.
Her research focuses on energy, economic, and environmental optimization of building systems, with emphasis on urban energy modeling, building retrofit strategies, and the development of energy performance certification frameworks. She explores topics such as vertical greenery systems, urban heat island effects, and cost-optimal renovation pathways, often integrating dynamic simulation and data-driven methodologies. Her work supports sustainable urban development and aligns with SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
The trends in her recent publications highlight a strong focus on urban-scale energy modeling, climate resilience, and policy-relevant tools for building decarbonization. Her articles frequently appear in high-impact journals and conferences such as Building and Environment, Energies, and IBPSA conferences, covering subfields like building archetypes, EPC innovation, HVAC efficiency, and EU sustainability regulations.
She supervises several PhD students, including Matteo Piro, Franz Giorgio Maria Bianco Mauthe Degerfeld, and Elisa Primo, and leads research projects funded by competitive grants and commercial contracts. Her teaching portfolio is extensive, covering courses on energy audit, building performance design, and sustainable architecture across engineering and architecture programs.
She is a key contributor to initiatives like the TIMEPAC project, which develops guidelines for building stock archetypes using EPC data, and has led commercial research on profitability tools for energy retrofits. Her work bridges academic research, industry applications, and public policy, making her a central figure in Italy’s sustainable building research landscape.
