Igor Zhimulev

Igor Zhimulev is a Professor and Director of the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the Siberian Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SD RAS), Novosibirsk. His career spans over 30 years, with leadership roles including Deputy Director of SD RAS institutes and Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Cytogenetics. He is a Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2006 and Academia Europaea since 1995.

• Research Focus: Cytogenetics of polytene chromosomes in Drosophila melanogaster, chromatin organization, heterochromatin dynamics, DNA underreplication, and transcriptional regulation.
