Igor Dorfmann-Lazarev

Igor Dorfmann-Lazarev is a Researcher at SOAS University of London, affiliated with the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics. He holds a PhD (2002) and Habilitation (2009) from the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE, Sorbonne).

His research focuses on the transmission of intellectual traditions in the Mediterranean during Late Antiquity, Christian-Jewish relations, Armenian-Russian cultural interactions, and theological hermeneutics. Key areas also include the history and patristics of the Armenian Church, Armenian apocrypha, and Armenian-Syriac/Armenian-Byzantine relationships. He explores themes like Russian colonization of the Caucasus and Central Asia, Armenian historiography, and Christian communities under Islamic rule.

Scientific Awards:

• Charles et Marguerite Diehl Prize (French Academy) for 'Arméniens et Byzantins à l’époque de Photius' (Peeters 2004)
