Ignacio Infante is Professor and Chair of Romance Languages and Literatures at Washington University, with joint appointments in Comparative Literature and as Co-Director of the Center for the Literary Arts. He holds a PhD from Rutgers University and specializes in transatlantic literary networks.
Research examines translation's role in global poetic exchanges, documented in monographs: After Translation: The Transfer and Circulation of Modern Poetics across the Atlantic (2013) explores Fernando Pessoa and Kamau Brathwaite; A Planetary Avant-Garde (2023) analyzes experimental literature responding to Iberian colonialism across 4 continents.
Infante teaches Iberian cultural studies and literary translation. Honors include Fulbright/Getty fellowships and the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award (2020).
