Zachary Ludington

Zachary Ludington is Associate Professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages and Classics at the University of Maine. His scholarly and creative work examines modernist pastoral traditions in Iberian poetry.

His research focuses on avant-garde poetry from Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan traditions, along with literary translation. Ludington investigates modernist reinterpretations of pastoral themes in early 20th century Iberian literature.

Recent publications include poetry collections and translations that explore the intersection of classical mythology and contemporary poetic forms. His creative work frequently engages with themes of choice, transformation, and the interplay between ancient literary motifs and modern expression.

He received the PEN/Heim Translation Fund Grant for his translation of Agustín Fernández Mallo's 'Pixel Flesh'. Ludington teaches Spanish language and literature courses across undergraduate and graduate levels.
