Ide François is an assistant professor of Latin literature at KU Leuven and a postdoctoral fellow of the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO). She works within the Latin Literature Research Group and is a coordinator for LECTIO (KU Leuven Institute for the Study of the Transmission of Texts, Ideas and Images in Antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance).
Her research focuses on classical Latin literature on death, situated at the intersection of classical philology, literary studies, history of emotions, and rhetoric. She specializes in consolatory and funerary genres, Neo-Latin literature of the Italian Renaissance, and reception studies. Her current project examines the rhetorical subtext in Latin literature on death during the Roman Imperial period through socio-historical contextualization.
She has received multiple research fellowships, including the FWO Postdoctoral Mandate and FNRS Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her publications include critical editions, peer-reviewed articles on consolatory commonplaces, and analyses of Renaissance funerary collections.

Her teaching spans classical and Neo-Latin literature, Latin linguistics, and humanist text analysis.
