Ibtesam Al Atiyat is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at St. Olaf College. She teaches courses such as The Arab World, Introduction to Sociology, Sociological Theory, and Global Interdependence, and has previously taught at the German Jordanian University, the UN International Leadership Institute in Amman, Jordan, Freie Universitaet Berlin, and the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.

Her research interests integrate Middle East Studies, Race and Ethnic Studies, and Sociology/Anthropology, with a focus on the Arab World and sociological theory applied to global interdependence. She has been active in academia since at least 2009 and maintains regular office hours for student engagement.
