Iban Mañas Navarrete

Dr. Iban Mañas Navarrete is an Associate Professor at the University of Balearic Islands (UIB), affiliated with the Department of Spanish Language (Section: Linguistic and Literary Education) within the School of Spanish, Modern, and Classical Languages. He previously held Adjunct Professor roles at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of Barcelona, and Saint Petersburg State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Linguistic Education from the University of Barcelona (2016), alongside master's degrees in Linguistic Education and Linguistics, and a degree in Slavic Philology.

His research focuses on second language acquisition, particularly the acquisition of tense-aspect-modality systems and quantitative linguistic analysis. He contributes to projects on linguistic education, writing development, and foreign language learning mechanisms. He is a member of the BASLA (Bilingualism and Spanish Language Acquisition) and GRESIB (Sociolinguistics in the Balearic Islands) research groups.

Teaching responsibilities include courses on primary education, early childhood education, and Spanish language pedagogy. He has taught extensively across multiple institutions, including Saint Petersburg State University (2009–2018) and the University of Barcelona (2019–2022).
