Dr. Ian Warren is an Associate Professor in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Deakin University, where he is a member of the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation. His research spans global criminology, surveillance governance, and comparative justice systems.
Key research areas include:
- Transnational crime and extradition processes
- Surveillance technologies and privacy governance
- Critical analysis of criminal law and regulation
- Southern criminological perspectives
Recent publications examine decolonisation in legal systems, surfveillance regulation, and the criminological dimensions of propaganda. He supervises multiple doctoral students investigating surveillance law reform, policing practices, and digital criminology.
His teaching includes International and Comparative Criminal Justice (ACR301) and Honours Theory and Debates (AIX497).
