Ian Sheinheit is a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at the University at Albany, SUNY, a doctoral fellow at Yale University's Center for Cultural Sociology, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Lehman College, CUNY. His research focuses on voice and discourse in the public sphere, particularly examining the impact of digital communication technologies on politics, media, journalism, and news content. Methodologically, he combines quantitative content analysis, media event reconstruction, and qualitative discourse analysis.

His work intersects media and cultural studies, digital media technologies, political sociology, and theories of deliberation and democracy. He has published in Sociological Forum, Mass Communication and Society, and PS: Political Science and Politics. He has extensive teaching experience, offering courses on research methods, communication, politics, culture, and theory at both University at Albany, SUNY and Hofstra University.
