Ian Mercer

Ian Mercer is an Assistant Professor of Management at the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship, Silberman College of Business, Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU). He holds a PhD in Management from Auburn University (2022), along with an MBA, LLB (Hons) in Law, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. Prior to academia, he practiced law at the Bars of England/Wales and Cayman Islands, and served as a Royal Navy Human Intelligence Officer.

His research focuses on behavioral ethics, leadership, and spirituality in organizations, with a unique emphasis on leveraging gaming for experiential learning. Mercer co-chairs the Experiential Learning track at the Eastern Academy of Management and actively contributes to the board game industry as a developer/consultant, co-founding the Association of Gaming Academics. His work bridges management education and immersive gameplay, addressing topics like entrepreneurial leadership, team dynamics, and cross-cultural adaptation.

Notable awards include recognition from the Academy of Management and Southern Management Association. His publications span Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Intercultural Relations, and Journal of Organizational Behavior, reflecting his dual focus on theoretical rigor and practical pedagogy.
